What is your professional background and how did you get to become a social media expert and strategist?

I read Jim Collins’ Good to Great back when I was still offering general technology strategy services – helping companies figure out how to use technology to gain a competitive edge and I realized that I could not be the best in the world at that. It wasn’t in my DNA. I was good, but not the best.

Gradually, my work led me to helping companies use the Internet to be highly competitive in the areas of lead generation and thought leadership. When social media came to the forefront, I knew this was the horse I wanted to ride.  It just made sense.

I realized what I would be the best in the world at was teaching women business owners how to really get their money’s worth from social media – because I understand both the strategic part AND the technical nitty-gritty, set-up part. That’s a very, very hard combination to find. Either someone’s totally technical and they don’t understand how to leverage social media for measurable results or they understand social media and don’t have a clue about how to program a customized blogsite or effectively set up a Facebook Page. I’m the best of both worlds.

Who are your clients exactly?

My clients are mostly women business owners between the ages of 35 and 55. They have the guts to do things their way and the will to make sure it happens. Life doesn’t happen TO these women; they make life happen. They have already achieved some measure of success in their lives and they want to work with someone who has a track record of getting results.

Why do you work with mostly women business owners? Do you ever work with men?

I find that I am able to relate to women business owners in a very real way – because I am one. I understand the varied roles they have to play, the demands on their time, energy and attention…and more than that, I understand that successful women like systems and process – and that’s exactly what I offer.

I have worked with men, of course! And, currently I have men who are both students and one-on-one Elite clients.

Does it matter if you haven’t worked with professionals from my industry?

I get this question a lot and it’s a good one. We’ve worked with companies that have a B2B (business-to-business) business model as well as companies that have a B2C (business-to-consumer) business model.

Also there is a comprehensive list of companies on our website (http://www.xynoMedia.com).

We’ve worked with clients in the following industries (and we’re still growing!):

  • Design/build
  • Health/Wellness
  • Staffing
  • Political action/lobbying
  • Non-profit
  • Web-based applications
  • Coaching
  • Consumer Goods/Food
  • Legal
  • Marketing
  • Coaching
  • Consulting

Everyone and their mother is a “social media coach”, what makes you so different?

The first thing is I don’t claim to be a coach really. I have great respect for coaches, but you’ll mostly see me refer to calls with clients as teleconsulting sessions. I am very decisive and I help you make the best possible decision for YOU and YOUR business.

Additionally, when you take a look at my professional bio, you’ll see a background rich in information technology (IT) as well as marketing; and that makes all the difference in the world. Look around at some of the bios of other’s working in this industry and many of these bios start and end with what the person is doing right now. What thinking people want to know is: what’s your background? What qualifies you to consult with me? My bio shows you were I was 10 years ago and where I am today. Nothing is conveniently left out.

Yes, right now, everyone is a social media expert, just like at one time everyone was a web designer. The bottom-line is you can either work with someone who has only used their social media “tactics” for themselves with mixed results – or you can work with someone who has applied a proven social media marketing method to businesses of all shapes and sizes and has come out a winner each time. The choice is yours. I didn’t speak about women in social media at the United States Capitol Building because I don’t know what I’m doing.

What kind of person works best with you?

People who work best with me are self-starters who don’t have to – or want to – be “forced” into doing anything. They know what’s good for their business and are willing and ready to do it.

These folks realize the sheer value in investing in only working with the best – someone with a proven track record who understands both marketing and business.

From what I’ve heard about you, I know you’ll deliver, but what’s expected of me if we were to work together?

This is something that I call “joint accountabilities” and it looks very much like this:

My work with clients is a collaborative effort. I commit to co-producing (with you) stellar results while providing best-practice expertise, serving as a sounding board and directing the overall progress and flow of our work together. I am not a ‘yes’ person, but rather, I will respectfully challenge you to think bigger, better and bolder about your business. I always hold your sensitive information in confidence.

You agree to provide me with any information I need to make timely and informed recommendations and decisions. You agree to be open to new ideas and new ways of approaching business challenges.  If any information becomes available that you feel will affect the outcome of our work together, you agree to tell me as soon as possible and I will do the same.  You agree to respect my expertise and trust that I will never knowingly steer you wrong.

For what kind of person will your approach NOT work well?

People who make excuses and who blame everyone and everything for their lot in life aren’t good clients for me.

As are people who are financially strapped and are looking for social media to be their “Hail Mary pass”. If you are having financial challenges, know that it’s perfectly OK to grab a 9-5 job and re-up so that you can step into your business on a solid foundation.

People who always find themselves constantly apologizing for being 5 minutes late and those who don’t complete work assignments are also not good clients for me.

Whiners need not apply ;-)

What exactly is The Influence Expansion System and what’s it all about?

The Influence Expansion System is a 9-step social media marketing process and when all 9 steps are fully completed, you’re well on your way to social media success – people start knowing who you are, connecting to your message and your offering, they retweet you (gasp!) and that’s when the speaking, writing and joint venture opportunities start rolling in.

Once you learn this system, you are able to expand your sphere of influence, kick-up your income and start to make the changes in the world you always wanted to make.

The system shows you how to:

  • Make social media a priority once and for all. It’s one thing to say you want to start using social media, but how do you move it from the backburner to a fully engaged marketing tactic in your business?
  • Distill your brand and refine your cornerstone theme. This is the piece that many people overlook. If you sound the same and look the same, you’ll never stand out online. You’ll learn how to right “thing” to focus on to make implementation (the “doing” part) a snap.
  • Select the right tool for the job. It’s important to determine which social media tools are best to use to meet specific goals – video, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace, etc.; including setting up a “home base” social media tool, like a blog.
  • Content is royalty. You’ll flesh out what kind of content you need to create, who can help you create it, and how often to disseminate your content.
  • Effective time and resource management. To be effective, social media needs to be consistent and managed. You’ll find out exactly what you can do and what you’ll need help doing to avoid surprises and inconsistent results.
  • Influencer identification and engagement. You’ll develop and strategize ways to initiate relationships with influencers; i.e., experts and brands who share similar goals as your company, but who already have some traction on the social grid.
  • Cleanup and launch. This is when all your fabulous ideas “go public”. You’ll learn how to outline a plan to launch yourself into the blogosphere easily and painlessly – and with a positive response.
  • Metrics and reputation management. What doesn’t get measured gets forgotten. You’ll place a healthy emphasis on tracking the right metrics to determine what’s working (and what’s not), and attaching measurable metrics to growth in order to monitor progress and sniff out trends.
  • Scalability. At this stage, it’s all about keeping things growing. You’ll find out how to use social media to build online joint ventures and strategic alliances.

So, it’s like PR then, right?

Not really. PR, or public relations, is really about securing media coverage for particular company. The Authentic Influencer System is a way to increase your influence not just via the media (my clients have gotten loads of media attention), but also with your peers as well as your potential clients (of course!).

C’mon. Be honest…does this “social media stuff” really work?

Yes. Take a look at my testimonials again.

I know it’s hard to believe that social media can really make a difference. And, you know why it’s hard to believe that? Because just about everything you’ve learned about social media until this point has been a lie or the result of the mental wanderings of someone who “means well”.

This seems like it would work for everyone BUT me, what kind of results can I expect?

Social media is like the gym. If you work out one day per week, you’re going to get one result. If you work out four days per week, you’re going to get a different set of results. The question is – are you a one-dayer who’s looking for 4-day results or are you a 4 dayer?

That said, you can definitely expect to:

  • Learn how to put social media marketing front and center in your marketing activities – without throwing everything else in your business out of whack.
  • Determine exactly what it is about what you have to say that’s compelling and will make people stick around and pay attention.
  • Finally get an answer to the “Facebook or Twitter” question – you’ll know exactly where you need to be and when.
  • Get clear about what you have to say and sail over the “I don’t have anything to write about” road block.
  • Realize that you have more time for social media than you think!
  • Pinpoint who knows who you need to know – and how to get introduced to those people FAST.
  • Map out a game plan for “getting on the grid” in a way that’s authentic and noticeable (without being cheesy!)
  • Get real about your metrics and learning how to examine your numbers so that they tell a marketing story that will help you grow your business.
  • Avoid plateaus…how to keep going and keep growing!

I can’t afford to wait 2 years to get results – when can I expect to see progress?

We’ve had clients who have turned up the volume on various aspects of the system and gained 8 times the number of Twitter followers in two weeks using all organic marketing methods – no “artificial inflation” apps or tools were used.

Your return is directly proportional to what you put in.

I don’t do anything without checking references — can I reach out to your clients and ask them about you?

I don’t blame you. That’s why we have our Get Acquainted call – just as you are interviewing me, I’m interviewing you to make sure that I’m the best person to help you meet your goals.

Also, feel free to take a look at testimonials from my Elated Clients. (If you don’t have this document, please request it!) Many of them have suggested that you contact them if you want to know more about what it’s like to work with me.

Can you guarantee that I’ll increase my visibility and my income?

Only you can guarantee that.

Will I recover my investment in this program?

Yes! Obviously, a lot depends on you, where you are in your business and how much you want to move the needle in your business. Many people say they want to grow their businesses, but in reality they’re only willing to do what it takes on the third Thursday of the month, when it’s a full moon. You get my drift here?

Many clients have found that social media marketing adds at least two additional revenue streams to their income arsenal – speaking and writing opportunities and those alone can recoup your investment.

How will we work together?

Depending on the level of assistance you want, we work together via a combination of in-depth telephone calls, engaging Internet presentations and videos and one-on-one private time.

Lena, based on what I’ve read and heard about you, I know your approach is going to work for me.  What choices do I have to get started?

Congratulations are in order! Good for you for stepping up to play a bigger game in your business. I am happy to be working with you to take this important next step! YES!!

For the past 14 years, I have been working with business owners and decision makers to help them get the most from their online marketing initiatives. I have hosted sold out training programs and delivered standing-room-only keynotes.

I used to work one-on-one with all my clients and while I no longer do that, I’m offering something even BETTER.

I want you to get results at warp speed. As my friend says, “It’s either now or now.” to that end, I found that once I created the Authentic Influencer System, I was teaching the same system over and over again to my one-on-one clients. I also found that because I hand-select the clients I’m going to work with, a lot of them would work well together and I was making referrals left and right.

Why not put them all together, teach them the system and depending on the level of time they want with me, give them individual attention? The Authentic Influencer Program is quite possibly the smartest thing I’ve ever done for my students, clients, myself and my business.

If you want to create a solid social media marketing foundation, but only want a “steady drip” of content, then let’s talk about Nano. You won’t get one-on-one or real-time/live time with me, but you will learn my social media marketing system (and a LOT more) through a series of well-timed web videos. Think of this as your social media “IV”.

If you’re ready to kick off your shoes, roll up your sleeves and DIG in, then let’s talk about the additional levels of the program: Starter, Intermediate, Advanced and Elite. There’s a program that’s right for you and all income levels.

If I’ve already figured out which program is going to work for me, how do I get started?

That’s awesome! What does G.I. Joe say? “Knowing is half the battle.” Which means you’re almost there!

The next thing for you to do is to reach out to my team at 914-377-0600 x1 or Lena@InfluenceExpansion.com and they will answer any questions you might have about how to get started.

I’m not sure I’m ready to get started, is there a way to sample your work at low cost to see if it’s the right solution for me?

Sure there is! The best way to do that is to grab your free report, “76 Ways to Expand Your Influence, Explode Your Income & Rock the World”, here.  When you request this report (which many people have said is the best checklist they’ve gotten on a loooong time), you’ll also get social media insider tips and tricks directly from me.

Lena, you work with busy women entrepreneurs just like me. I have a family and an abundant life. Although I seriously want to start to use social media to increase both my influence and income, I don’t have a lot of free time. How much time does this program take?

Whoo! I LOVE this question! One of the elements of the Authentic Influencer System is time management. It is not uncommon at all for people to work through this step and find boatloads of time they were not aware they had. For example, one client found 50.75 hours a month! No joke. Really. Even I have to admit, I was stunned by that myself.

So, you see, this program is custom tailored to fit the lifestyle of busy business women.

Ok, I’m ready to invest in myself and my business, but I’d like to chat with you first? Is that possible?

Now, that’s what I’m talking about! It sounds like you’re ready to get some help realizing your dreams and the awesome future you always daydream about.

Take action on your decision by reach out to my team at 914-377-0600 x1 or Lena@InfluenceExpansion.com and they will walk you through all the options to make sure you select the one that’s the best for you. I’m absolutely stoked to start working with you and can’t wait for you to start realizing some wins! Let’s make it happen!
